RESOLUTION No. 79 -4 -R
A RESOLUTION OF KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY ENDORSING
AND SUPPORTING THE TERROR LAKE HYDROELECTRIC PROJECT, KODIAK
ISLAND, ALASKA
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Electric Association's general service
area continues to experience increasing costs for electrical power .
due to dependence of the power source on diesel engine powered
generators, and with increasing costs of diesel oil and the un-
certainty of its future availability, the Kodiak Electric
Association wishes to use the Terror Lake Development as its
principle source of power, and,
WHEREAS, definitive engineering studies have shown that the
proposed Terror Lake Hydroelectric development provides a cheaper,
cleaner and more reliable means of generating "electrical energy
than the use of diesel oil, and,
WHEREAS, economic feasibility studies as part of project
definitive analysis confirmed that the Terror Lake Hydroelectric
Project is the most economical way for the Kodiak Electric Asso-
ciation to meet its future energy requirements,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly does hereby endorse and support the Kodiak Electric
Association in its development of the Terror Lake Hydroelectric
Project, Kodiak Island, Alaska, and recommends that the Association
proceed with the necessary steps to implement the Terror Lake Pro-
ject toward the objective of bringing the hydro project to on -line
operation at the earliest possible date.
