RESOLUTION No. 79 -3 -R
A RESOLUTION OF KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY IMPLEADING
THE GOVERNOR AND THE ALASKA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AND
PUBLIC FACILITIES FOR PRIORITY CONSIDERATION OF THE ANTON LARSEN
ROAD
WHEREAS, the health, safety and public welfare of Kodiak
island Borough citizens are directly impacted by the degree and
extent of transportation services and improvements, and,
WHEREAS, highway facilities have become an increasingly
significant aspect of the transportation system for Kodiak Island
Borough residents for economy, employment, recreation, health
and related travel needs, and,
WHEREAS, major State highway improvements are required to
reduce hazards and improve safety and convenience in the Kodiak
Island Borough,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly impleads the Governor and the Department of Transportation
'land Public Facilities to give top priority to the following high-
' way improvement:
A. Reconstruction and all year maintenance of the
Anton Larsen Road, from the intersection of the
Town -Base Highway to ice free water at Sharatin
Bay (Anton Larsen Bay).
B. Reconstruction and maintenance of the Anton Larsen
Road shall be at a standard equivalent to the
primary system classification currently utilized
by the State Department of Transportation and
Public Facilities.
