RESOLUTION NO. 78 -64 -R
A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY ADOPTING
THE KARLUK VILLAGE RELOCATION PLAN.
WHEREAS, in January, 1978, the Village of Karluk sustained
extensive damages resulting from a winter storm. The damages
included an 800 foot breach in the spit, collapse of the bridge,
loss of the village fuel supply, and extensive damage or loss of
personal property amongst other things, and,
WHEREAS, following the disaster the Kodiak Island Borough
was instrumental in having the Governor of the State of Alaska
officially declare the area a disaster, and,
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough established a committee
to plan for the relocation and reconstruction of the Village of
Karluk, and,
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Planning and Zoning
Commission has reviewed and adopted the Karluk Village Redevelop -
'i ment Plan, as recommended by the Resolution of September 20, 1978,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly does hereby adopt the Karluk Village Redevelopment Plan,
dated June 30, 1978.
