A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY
COMMEMORATING THE U. S. COAST GUARD ON ITS 188th ANNIVERSARY.
WHEREAS, on August 4th, 1978 the U. S. Coast Guard will
be celebrating its 188th Anniversary, and,
WHEREAS, the Coast Guard has been established in Kodiak
since 1947, and in 1972 established the largest Support Center in
America, and,
WHEREAS, the Coast Guard's services have benefited the
citizens of Kodiak by assisting the local police and fire services
and aiding the local fishing industry, resulting in the increased
safety of Kodiak fishermen and the efficient operation of the
fishing industry,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Kodiak Island
Borough Assembly extends its thanks and appreciation to the Kodiak
Coast Guard Support Center and wishes it a long, bright future in
its operation.
