A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY RELATING
TO THE APPOINTMENT OF A HEALTH RESOURCES ADVISORY COUNCIL WITH AN
AFFIRMATION OF GENERAL GOALS AND FUNCTIONS AS GUIDELINES FOR THE
COUNCIL ACTIVITIES.
WHEREAS, Kodiak Island Borough has appointed a Health Re-
sources Advisory Council for the purpose of advising the Assembly
in matters related to the planning and development of health
services, health facilities and health manpower for Kodiak Island
Borough; and
WHEREAS, the health powers and responsibilities of the
Borough require that a Health Resources Advisory Council be devel-
oped for the purposes of promoting and assuring the highest levels
of health attainable for every person in the Borough and that the
Council provide effective leadership where intergovernmental
collaboration, official and voluntary efforts, including compre-
hensive planning for health services, health manpower, health
facilities and environmental health; and
WHEREAS, the Health Resources Advisory Council is hereby
charged with the responsibility of developing a comprehensive
health plan for the Kodiak Island Borough and to coordinate this
plan with that of the Southcentral Health Planning and Development
Region and to pursue the rational allocation of health resources
so as to promote needed reforms and integration of services in-
cluding innovative or needed programs and to carry out its re-
sponsibilities the Council will perform planning, review and com-
ment, coordination, education and promotion and research functions
in the area of personal health, mental health, environmental
services, public health and dental health in the interest of the
general population of the Kodiak Island Borough.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly hereby expresses its support to insure that the Kodiak
Island Borough Health Resources Advisory Council can and will
accomplish the needed goals and functional responsibilities set
forth to the end of a more healthful community in Kodiak Island
Borough.
