A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AUTHORIZINd
THE BOROUGH ADMINISTRATION TO NEGOTIATE A NEW CONTRACT WITH THE
''. KODIAK AREA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION TO ADMINISTER THE
STATE OF ALASKA DAY CARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough was advised by the State
of Alaska that certain administrative responsibilities associated
with administration of the Day Care Assistance Program were not
adequately handled by the Borough's subcontract agent; and
WHEREAS, the State of Alaska stated that they were serving
notice of intent to cancel their contract with the Borough for
administration of this program; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Area Community Development Corporation hO
;effectively administered this program from its inception without
cost to the Borough; and
WHEREAS, a reduction in operational funds resulted in a
K. A. C. D. C. staff reduction which in turn caused problems with
the effective administration of the Day Care Assistance Program;
and
WHEREAS, following a work session with the K. A. C. D. C.
j Executive Director, a staff representative of the State of
Alaska Day Care Assistance Program and Kodiak Island Borough
staff, the Borough Assembly found that with administrative
financial assistance the K. A. C. D. C. could once again effec-
tively administer this program; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly recognizes the
importance of this worthy program to those Borough residents who
qualify for day care assistance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Borough Assembly of the
Kodiak Island Borough that the Assembly hereby resolves:
1. That the Borough Assembly will authorize expenditure of
four thousand dollare ($4,000.00) from the Borough General Fund
for administration of this program from January 1, 1978, through
June 30, 1978.
2. That the Borough Manager is directed to prepare a new
contract with K. A. C. D. C. setting forth the use of the above
authorized funds and an effective monitoring program to insure
that this program shall not again become endangered during the
period January 1, 1973, through June 30, 1978.
3. That upon execution of the new contract all ^ _vim_
contracts shall become null and void.
