A RESOLUTION REQUESTING SITE IMPROVEMENT OF THE BUREAU OF LAID
MANAGEMENT CEMETERY, LOT 27, BLOCK 13, ALEUTIAN HOMES SUBDIVISION...
WHEREAS, Lot 27 of Block 13, Aleutian Homes Subdivision,
Kodiak Island Borough, is a cemetery site in federal ownership;
and
WHEREAS, the cemetery is located in the heart of the City of
Kodiak; and
WHEREAS, no local authority has jurisdiction to perform or
beautify the cemetery area; and
WHEREAS, the Bureau of Land Management Act of 1976 states:
"The Secretary shall manage the public lands . , where a tract
of such public land has been dedicated to specific uses according
to any other provision of law it shall be managed in accordance
with such law." (Section 302(a)).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly requests the Bureau of Land Management to provide funds
to contract for or perform site maintenance and beautification
to the federal cemetery site located within Lot 27 of Block 13,
Aleutian Homes Subdivision, Kodiak, Alaska.
