1972-13 Accepting The Report Of Canvass Of The Special Election Held On Tuesday, February 15, 1972.A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY ACCEPTING THE REPORT OF CANVASS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON TUESDAY, the 15TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1972 WHEREAS, the election returns of the Special Election held on Tuesday, the 15th day of February, 1972, for the purpose of submitting to the duly qualified electors of the Borough the Propositions of the issuance of General Obligation Bonds for the construction of basic educational high school facilities at Kodiak, in an amount not to exceed THREE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED .THOUSAND and No /10oths ($3,500,000.00) DOLLARS, and for the construction of a swimming pool as part of the Borough educational complex at Kodiak for a sum not to exceed FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND and No /10oths ($500,000.00) DOLLARS, and said election returns have been canvassed by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly. KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH RESOLUTION NUMBER 72 -13 -R NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly as follows: Section 1. That on the issue of issuing THREE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND and No /100ths ($3,500,000.00) ! DOLLARS General Obligation Bonds for the purpose of constructing , ;basic educational high school facilities at Kodiak, which was 1Proposition No. 1, there were ballots cast, of which 740 4 ballots were cast "Yes" in favor of said question sand the issuance of it Section 2. 1 said bonds, and "No ", against said Proposition, said bonds, and - 0 - ballots F/Page One, RESOLUTION NO. 72 - 13 - R 260 !defective and not counted as voted r UNDRED THOUSAND and No /100ths ($500,000.0 0) bligation Bonds ballots were cast and against the issuance of were found illegally marked or upon the Proposition. That on the question of issuing FIVE for the purpose of constructing DOLLARS General a swimming pool as part of the Borough educational complex, there were ?°9 ballots cast, of which 7 ballots were cast "Yes ", in favor of said question and the issuance of said bonds, and '72 ballots were cast "No ", against said Proposition and against the issuance of said bonds, and - 0 ' - ballots were found illegally marked or defective and not counted as voted upon the Proposition. Section 3. That it is hereby found and determined and declared of record that the Proposition to issue Bonds for the construction of basic educational high school facilities at Kodiak in the amount of THREE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND and No /100ths ($3,500,000.00) DOLLARS, and the Proposition to issue Bonds in the amount of FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND and No /100ths ($500,000.00) DOLLARS for the purpose of constructing a swimming pool as part of the Borough educational complex, submitted to the duly qualified election, both did electors of the Kodiak Island Borough at said receive the approval of a majority of the legal voters of the Kodiak Island Borough voting on said questions at said election, and that both of said Propositions have been legally approved and carried, and that the Chairman of the Kodiak Island Borough and the Presiding Officer and the Borough Clerk are hereby authorized to execute General Obligation Bonds of the Kodiak Island Borough in the amount of THREE MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND and No /100ths ($3,500,000.00) DOLLARS for the purpose of constructing basic educational high school facilities at Kodiak, together with appurtenances, auxiliary space and site development necessary for said structure, with interest at a rate not to exceed eight percent (8%), payable semi - annually, and to execute General Obligation Bonds in the amount of FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND and No /100ths ($500,000.00) DOLLARS for the purpose of constructing a swimming pool as part of the Borough educational complex at Kodiak, together with appurtenances, auxiliary space and site development necessary Page Two, RESOLUTION NO. 72 -13 -R for such swimming pool, with interest at a rate not to exceed eight percent (8%) per annum, payable semi - annually, all as is authorized by the Statutes of the State of Alaska and provided for by Resolution No. 71 -39 -R, passed and approved by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly on December 2, 1971, and approved by the duly qualified electors of the Kodiak Island Borough at the Special Election held in the Borough on Tuesday, the 15th day of February, 1972.
