STATE LEGISLATURE, WHICH IS A BILL RELATING TO THE FINANCING OF
LOCAL SCHOOLS ALASKA
ALASKA STATE LEGISLATURE, WHICHFIS OASBILLLRELATING9TOFSTATE AID THE
FOR TOURISM, PROVIDED HOUSE BILL NO. 489 IS AMENDED IN A CERTAIN
RESPECT
BE IT RESOLVED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly,'
that this body go on record as being
opposed to House Bill
No. 544 of the Alaska State Legislature, an Act relating to the �
financing of local schools, as this body does not believe that
it is in the best interests
of local governments that capital
outlay and debt service be included in as a part of the cost of
"instructional units ".
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island
,'i Borough Assembly go on record as being in support of House Bill
No. 489 of the Alaska State Legislature, an Act relating to
'i State aid
for tourism, with the following qualification:

That House Bill No. 489 be amended to delete
therefrom, under Subparagraph (7)(A) the following language:
"marine highway or other passenger water transportation ".
So that the same reads, and this is what this body
would be in favor of:
"( $10 per capita tourist visiting a city or
borough providing tourist attractions, services ces
or facilities
subject t
7 to the following:
(A) No city or borough qualifies for tourism aid
unless it is without highway connections with other cities or
boroughs in the state;

ATTEST:
(B) The Alaska Travel Division of the Department
of Economic Development annually shall determine the number of
tourists traveling to a city or borough qualifying under this
paragraph and shall report its finding to the Local Affiars
Agency."
