A RESOLUTION OF THE BOROUGH ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK
ISLAND BOROUGH REQUESTING THE U. S. FOREST SERVICE TO DESIGNATE
AFOGNAK PRIMARILY AS A RECREATION AREA RATHER THAN AN AREA FOR
HARVESTING OF FOREST PRODUCTS
WHEREAS, numerous members of the public and residents
of the Kodiak Island Borough have expressed their concern over the
sale of timber on Afognak, and have further expressed their
interest and desire to see Afognak Island designated as a
recreational site for fishing and hunting, and not for timber
sales.
BE IT RESOLVED by the Borough Assembly of the Kodiak
Island Borough that the U. S. Forest Service be informed of this
body's desire as an expression of the people of the Kodiak Island
Eorough, to have Afognak Island designated primarily as a
recreational area, rather than an area for the harvesting of
timberresources.
