AN ORDINANCE REZONING APPROXIMATELY 1,595± ACRES NEAR
THE CITY OF OUZINKIE FROM R1- SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL
AND C- CONSERVATION TO R2- WATERSHED
(GENERALLY LOCATED NORTHEAST OF THE CITY OF OUZINKIE)
This ordinance is not of general application and shall not be codified.
The parcel of land consisting of approximately 1,595 ± acres, near the
City of Ouzinkie, and further described by the map and metes and
bounds description included as part of this ordinance, is hereby rezoned
from R1- Single Family Residential and C- Conservation to W- Watershed.
The findings of the Kodiak Island Borough Planning and Zoning
Commission in recommending the approval of this rezone are hereby
confirmed as follows:

A rezone from R1- Single Family Residential and C- Conservation to W- Watershed is
needed and justified because the W- Watershed zoning district permits development
that:

A. will protect and regulate the City of Ouzinkie municipal water supply to ensure
maintenance of good water quality and ensure that future power generation
needs are met;
B. will prohibit all other land uses not compatible with the maintenance of the
municipal watershed; and
C. will eliminate an existing nonconforming land use.

A change of zoning from R1- Single Family Residential and C- Conservation to the W-
Watershed zoning district is necessary to provide basic protection of water quality for
the City of Ouzinkie community and to ensure that future power generation needs of
the community will be met. This rezone is in conformity with specific objectives and
recommendations stated in both the 1968 Borough Comprehensive Plan and the 1984
Ouzinkie Comprehensive Plan.
Section 4: The official zoning map shall be updated to reflect this rezoning.
