AN ORDINANCE REZONING CERTAIN BOROUGH LANDS FROM
RR- 1- -RURAL RESIDENTIAL ONE TO PL-- PUBLIC USE LANDS FOR
SCHOOL DEVELOPMENT PURPOSES
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough School District has identified the need for a
new elementary school to relieve potential overcrowding; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has identified and purchased six (6) lots for
a future elementary school; and
WHEREAS, the site work and school building construction are limited under the
present residential zoning category; and
WHEREAS, the intent of the PL-- Public Use Lands Zoning District is for public
projects containing recreational, educational and institutional uses; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Planning and Zoning Commission has
recommended that these properties be rezoned PL-- Public Use Lands.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH THAT:
Section 1: This ordinance is not of general application and shall not be codified.
Section 2: 1. Lot 1, Block 6, Miller Point Subdivision
2. Lot 2A, Block 6, Miller Point Subdivision
3. Lot 1A, Block 10, Miller Point Subdivision, 1st Addition
4. Lot 2, Block 10, Miller Point Subdivision, 1st Addition
5. Lot 7, Block 9, Miller Point Subdivision, 1st Addition
6. Lot 8A, Miller Point Subdivision, 1st Addition
be rezoned from RR1- -Rural Residential One IQ PL-- Public Use Lands.

Section 3: The official zoning map shall be updated to reflect this rezoning.
Section 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon passage and
adoption.
