BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH:
Section 1. This ordinance is of a general and permanent nature and shall
become a part of the Code of Ordinances.
Section 2. Chapter 2.21 is amended by repealing and reenacting Sections
2.21.030 and 2.21.040 to read as follows:
2.21.030 Deputy clerk -- Appointment. There is established the position of deputy
borough clerk in the legislative service. This is a totally exempt position. The borough
clerk is authorized to appoint the deputy borough clerk who shall be confirmed by the
assembly.
2.21.040 Deputy clerk -- Duties. The deputy borough clerk shall assume the powers
and duties of the borough clerk only in the absence of the borough clerk from the office,
or by written direction from the borough clerk to exercise particular powers and duties,
or when the assembly determines by resolution that the borough clerk is unable to
perform the duties of the office. The deputy borough clerk shall perform other functions
and duties related to the legislative process under the supervision and direction of the
borough clerk.
