IAN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE KIB PERSONNEL RULES AND REGULATIONS
BY ADDING JOB DESCRIPTIONS
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly approved the
addition of a Records Coordinator in the Borough Clerk's Office and a
Programmer in the Data Services in the FY 89 budget; and
WHEREAS, the assembly approved the in -house operation of the
baler and landfill facility at its regular meeting on July 21, 1988;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Kodiak Island
Borough Assembly that:
Section 1. This ordinance is of a permanent and general nature
and shall become a part of the KIB Rules and Regulations.
Section 2. Schedule 11, Class Titles and Pay Ranges, is amended
by adding the following:

Job Summary: Under the general direction and supervision of the Borough
Clerk, the Records Coordinator is responsible for the storage, retrieval.
retention and microfilming of the Borough records and all related activities
as dictated by Borough policies.
1 Determines the method of storage of records in accordance
with approved standards and administers a retrieval program
to provide quick reference in accordance with access policies
approved by the Borough Clerk, and establishes the operation
of • Borough Resource Center.
2 Oversees and trains employees in records management and assists
in the training and orientation of filing personnel in all
departments when requested.
3 Provides technics' assistance to ell departments in setting up
filing systems, aids in the development of such systems and
audits departmental files. Recommends changes to the departments
which might improve their filing systems.
4 Interprets Borough policies as they apply to records management
and must be familiar with all legal requirements regarding records
destruction. Supervises the destruction of records according to
approved retention schedules. Responsible' for the security of ell
records stored in the central storage areas.
5 Prepares and administers a manual of policies. procedures and
methods of records management applicable to Borough records.
Reviews all records to ascertain if they should be retained in
original form, or by microfilming, or by other means, and
recommends records to be microfilmed. types of equipment to be
used, and supervises central microfilm unit.
8 Reviews ell purchase requisitions for records storage equipment.
7 Serves as Deputy Clerk in the Deputy's absence. Assists with
elections and other functions of the Clerk's Office as required.
8 Keeps current on state of the art records management equipment and
software and recommends changes when desirable.
