AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH APPROPRIATING ADDITIONAL
FUNDING FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has bonded for various school projects
of which the High School was one element for $1,000,000; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Education has approved reimbursement under
DOE #05- 86 -51; and
WHEREAS, this project will now be an estimated $1,800,000 and DOE has
been requested to approve the additional $800,000 for reimbursement; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island borough proposes to fund the additional
$800,000 from the W.R. Grace court settlement on the asbestos claim.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED that $800,000 of the W.R. Grace court
settlement monies are hereby appropriated for the High School project.
Staff is authorized and directed to effect the proper accounting and
reporting to include reimbursement from the Department of Education for these
funds.
