1985-06 Amending Personnel Manual - Combining Sick and Annual Leave)1 7 1 7 7 '1 KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ORDINANCE NO. 85 -6 -0 AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AMENDING THE PERSONNEL RULES AND REGULATIONS BY COMBINING ANNUAL AND SICK LEAVE. WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough staff has requested, by a substan- it tial majority, that the Personnel 'annual leave and sick leave, and Rules and Regulations be amended to i.,. ine ewed the WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Personnel Board ha proposal and recommends adoption by the Kodiak Island Borough bly. Supervisors are responsible for permitting employees to utilize all leave earn d in any calendar year. Supervisors and employees must schedule uch leave usage in advance so as not to unduly conflict with or everely restrict the normal work requirements of their respec ve department. Empl %yees shall not be eligible to utilize leave during the probation- ary period. Upon successful completion of the probationary period t employee shall be credited with 60 hours (three (3) months ltiplied by 20 hours per month) accrued leave time. Employees who o not complete the probationary period or who are not retained beyond the probationary period shall not be credited with leave for their period of employment. Employees who, for good and sufficient cause, l , 'l 1 ! 7 n must be absent during the probationary period shall be considered in a leave without pay status. Any new employee hired between the first (1st) and fifteenth (15th) days of the month, inclusive, shall be considered to have worked the full month for leave purposes; and any employee hired after the fifteenth (15th) day of the month shall be credited with leave for half a month. Leave can be accrued from year to year with a maximum accrual limit of 90 working days. Leave continues to accrue during the period of time an employee is on paid leave. Leave does not accrue when the employee is in a leave without pay status longer than 10 working days. Leave without pay, if approved by the Borough Manager; may be granted to employees not to exceed thirty (30) days. Leave without pay in excess of thirty (30) days shall be subject to appr•val by the Borough Assembly. A recognized holiday occurring during n employee's leave period shall not be counted as a day of leave. 903 MUST LEAVE Section All employees must utilize a minimum of 15 days Tea e per annum. Upon termination, any emaining balance of sick leave is and no cash payment will be made tb-�S employee for unused sick leave.
