AN ORDINANCE TO EXEMPT PROPERTY OF THE SENIOR CITIZENS OF KODIAK,
INC. FROM TAXES AND TO WAIVE COLLECTION OF TAXES LEVIED FOR 1984.
WHEREAS, the Borough is authorized by AS 29.53.025 (b) (2) (B) to
exempt from taxations property of an organization not organized for business
or profit making purposes and used exclusively for community purposes, pro -
vided that income derived from rental of such property does not exceed the
actual cost to the owner of the use by the renter; and
WHEREAS, the Borough Assembly has determined that the Senior Citi-
zens of Kodiak, Inc. is a non - profit entity and that the portions of land
legally described as Lot 30, Block 1, Kodiak Townsite, USS 2537 -B, more
specifically, those lots commonly referred to as Lots 30A, 30E, and 3,750
square feet of Lot 30, is used for purposes that satisfy the statutory stan-
dards.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly Ordains that:
Section 1. The interests of Senior Citizens of Kodiak, Inc., in the land as
described above, is exempt from all real property taxes that would otherwise
be levied by the Kodiak Island Borough for the year of 1984.
