1983-73 Amending the Sick Leave Provisions of the Borough Personnel Rules and RegulationsAN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY AMENDING THE SICK
LEAVE PROVISIONS OF THE BOROUGH PERSONNEL RULES AND REGULATIONS.
WHEREAS, the Borough Assembly finds that in many instances Borough
employees must out of necessity be absent from work due to the illness of
their dependent children or spouse, and
WHEREAS, the Borough Assembly feels that offering employees the
option of using their sick leave in lieu of annual leave due to illness of
dependent children or a spouse is in the interest of family welfare, and
WHEREAS, the Personnel Advisory Board during their regular meeting
on April 11, 1983 had recommended the Personnel Policy be amended to allow
employees to take their allotted sick leave in the case of illness of the
employee's dependent children or spouse, and
WHEREAS, the Personnel Advisory Board at their regular meeting held
on October 10, 1983 again urged the assembly to reconsider the amendment to
the Personnel Policy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
as follows:
Section 1: Section 910 of the Kodiak Island Borough Personnel Regulations
are hereby amended as follows:
"No sick leave will be granted unless the supervising officer is satisfied
that the absent employee was sick, or dependent children or spouse was
sick and required the physical presence of the employee in the interest
of family welfare."
