AN ORDINANCE OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH, KODIAK, ALASKA, ESTABLISHING
!CHAPTER 2.25, ASSESSING DEPARTMENT, OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH CODE OF

2.25.010 Borough Assessor /Appraiser. There is created a Borough assessing
d epartment headed by the Assessor /Appraiser. The principal officer of the
;department shall be the Assessor /Appraiser appointed by the Manager.

2.25.020 Duties. The Assessing Department organizes, directs and
coordinates the work of property appraisers and office support engaged in the
e valuation, reporting, filing and verification of data and records connected
With the assessment of property; insures statutory deadlines are met in producing
the assessment roles, supervises the maintenance of property appraisal records,
assumes the responsibility for technical accuracy, internal efficiency, and the
!resolution of problems from all aspects of the Assessing Department. Conducts
'the evaluation of existing methods and procedures to determine possible improve -
;ment in efficiency and accuracy; develops and implements new methods and
procedures and supervises investigation and resolution of assessment complaints;
makes appraisals for Borough and City Departments as requested. The Assessor/
! also administers a training program for appraisers and office support
;staff and periodically revaluates all property to determine it is correctly
assessed. Defends and cooperates appraisals before the Board of Equalization,
assists legal counsel relative to presentation of cases in a court of law.
Performs other duties as specified in other sections of this Code and Alaska
'State Statute Title 29 or as lawfully prescribed by the Borough Assembly.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon passage and adoption.'.
The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly hereby ordains that Chapter 2.25,
sessing Department, is hereby established and enacted to read as follows:
