AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 15 OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH CODE PERTAINING TO THE ADOPTION OF CURRENT REVISIONS OF
UNIFORM CODES ESTABLISHING STANDARDS FOR CONSTRUCTION AND
PROCEDURES FOR REGULATING COMPLIANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
that:

Section 1. Section 15.04.050 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code
is hereby repealed and re- enacted as follows:
15.04.050 Enforcement authority. The building official
shall have the power and duty to enforce the provisions of
this title and Title 17, and all fees provided herein shall
be paid to the borough treasury. All permits shall be
issued by the building official.
Section 2. Section 15.08.010 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code
is hereby repealed and re- enacted as follows:
15.08.010 Adopted. The 1979 Edition of the Uniform Building
Code, Volume I, as published by the International Conference
of Building Officials, is adopted to regulate the construc-
tion, alteration, maintenance and use of buildings and other
structures in the borough. The Uniform Building Code
Appendix of 1979 is adopted and made a part of this code.
Section 3. Section 15.12.010 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code
is hereby repealed and re- enacted as follows:
15.12.010 Adopted. A. The rules and regulations of the
National Board of Fire Underwriters, as contained in the
code known as the National Electrical Code, 1981, and as
approved by the American Standards Association, are adopted
for the installation, alteration and use of electrical
equipment in the borough.
B. The rules and regulations regarding the installation,
alteration and use of electrical equipment as adopted by the
Kodiak Electric Association, Inc., now supplying the Kodiak
area of the borough and the application of which rules and
regulations shall be limited to the area served by the Kodiak
Electric Association, Inc., a copy of said code and last -
mentioned rules and regulations, known as Customer Service
Policies, being now on file in the office of the borough, are
adopted for the installation, alteration and use of electri-
cal equipment in the borough.
Section 4. Section 15.16.010 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code
is hereby repealed and re- enacted as follows:
15.16.010 Adopted. The 1979 Edition of the Uniform Mechan-
ical Code as published by the International Conference of
Building Officials is hereby adopted to regulate the design,
construction, installation, operation and maintenance of
heating, ventilating, cooling, incinerating and other heat
producing appliances in the borough.
Section 5. Section 15.20.010 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code
is hereby repealed and re- enacted as follows:
15.20.010 Adopted. The 1979 Edition of the ICBO Plumbing
Code, as published by the International Conference of
Building Officials, is hereby adopted to regulate the

installation, alteration, maintenance and use of plumbing
equipment in the borough.
Section 6. Section 15.20.020 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code
is hereby repealed.
Section 7. Section 15.24.010 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code
is hereby repealed and re- enacted as follows:
15.24.010 Adopted. The 1979 Edition of the Uniform Code
for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, as published by
the International Conference of Building Officials, is
hereby adopted to regulate the repair, vacation or demolition
of buildings in the borough that endanger the life, limb,
health, morals, property safety or welfare of the general
public or the occupants of said buildings.
Section 8. This ordinance is effective upon passage and approval.
