1979-03 Amending Personnel Rules and Regulations Relating to the Organization of the Personnel Board1 ATTEST: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH PERSONNEL R � L g 5 AND REGULATIONS RELATING TO THE ORGANIZATION OF THE PERSONNELi ' WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Section 202 of Ordinance 77 -31 -0 idern- t ifies the organization of the Personnel Board and the manner in Which membership is selected and appointed, and WHEREAS, the Board in evaluating its organization deem it , to amend Section 202 for the purpose of acknowledging the presence of minorities in the Kodiak Island Borough community, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Assembly of Kodiak Island Borough as follows: Section 1. Chapter 2, Section 202 is amended to read: The Borough Assembly shall appoint a Personnel Board consisting of five (5) members for overlapping two -year terms. The terms of two (2) members shall commence on January 1st of each even numbered year and the terms of the re- maining three (3) members shall commence on January 1st of each odd numbered year. (To initially set up the per- sonnel board the Assembly shall fill three (3) two -year seats and two (2) one -year seats.) A member of the personnel board may not hold any other office or position in the Kodiak Island Borough government and must be a registered voter in the Kodiak Island Borough. In appointing members to the personnel board, the Borough Assembly will take into con- sideration the recommendations made by Borough employees, the Borough Manager, any resident of the Borough and their own recommendations. Appointments should be somewhat consistent with the overall minority population of the community. All vacant positions and anticipated vacancies on the Borough personnel board will he advertised, via local media, at least three weeks prior to the filling of the vacancy by the Assembly.
