BOARD.
BE IT ORDAINED by the Assembly of the Kodiak Island
Borough as follows:
SECTION 1. Title 8 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code
of Ordinances is amended by adding a new Chapter 04 to read as
follows:

8.04.010 Created - - (fembership. There is created a Health Faciliti
Advisory Board which shall consist of five Borough residents
appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by the Assembly.
The hospital manager shall serve as an ex officio member of the
commission and the Mayor may, with the concurrence of the
Assembly, appoi •. additional ex officio members. The board
shall designat :ts chairman.
8 .04.020 Term - - Compensation. The members shall serve for
three years; •wever, of the members first appointed, two shall
be appointe. :,•r three years, two for two years and one for one
Year. Appo nt.+' t to fill vacancies shall be for the unexpired
term only.
Members of the board shall serve without compensation.
8 _ 04 .030 Powers and Duties. The board shall serve in an
a dvisory capacity to the Assembly with regard to the management
a nd operations of Borough health facilities. In that capacity
the boa d is required to:

A.

Hold public meetings at least once per month
at a time and in a place within the Borough to be designated
by the chairman of the board.
B. Receive testimony and otherwise investigate

matters of concern with regard to public health services.
C. Review contracts proposed for the management and
operation of health facilities and make recommendations with
;regard to the apparent qualifications of the contracting entity
and the terms of the contract.
D. Review those portions of the proposed annual budget !
!relating to health services and facilities, evaluate grants
and other funding proposals and make recommendations with regard
to financial matters effecting health services and facilities.
E. Propose heal policies and programs to the Assembly.
F. Perform such other similar services as may be
requested from time to\time by the Assembly.
8.04.040 - - Administrating Assistance. The Borough manager or
his designee shall:\
