KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
ORDINANCE NUMBER 73-6-0
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH ASSEMBLY OF THE
KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ESTABLISHING THE TERM OF OFFICE FOR
THE BOROUGH CHAIRMAN.
WHEREAS, Alaska Statutes Section 29.23.130 provides
that the term of office for the Borough Chairman shall be
for three years unless otherwise provided for by Ordinance
of the Borough Assembly, and
WHEREAS, the term of office has always coincided
with that of the City Mayor of the City of Kodiak, a first
class city, and
WHEREAS, the Assembly has determined that this
term of office is in the best interest of the Borough,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED that the term of
office for the Borough Chairman shall be the same as the term
of office of the Mayor of the City of Kodiak, that term being
two years.
Notice of this Ordinance shall be given by publication
in the Kodiak MIRROR seven (7) days prior to the second reading
and a public hearing shall be held thereon on that date of the
second reading, and this Ordinance shall become effective
thirty (30) days after its passage and approval.
