1971-09 Rezoning East Addition Parcel to R-2KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
ORDINANCE NUMBER 71 -9 -0
AN ORDINANCE REZONING BLOCKS 40, 43, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50,
52, 53 and 54, EAST ADDITION FROM R -1 TO R -2.
WHEREAS, ALASKA STATUTE 07.15.340 empowers the Kodiak
Island Borough to enact zoning ordinances and provide for their administration,
enforcement and amendment, and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough as pursuant thereto adopted
Chapter Five of its Code of Ordinances and Resolutions, which provides for
Planning and Zoning Provisions and Procedures, and
WHEREAS, according to the Comprehensive Planning and Zoning
Map adopted by the Kodiak Island Borough, Blocks 40, 43, 44, 47, 48, 49, 50,
52, 53, and 54 of East Addition have been classified as Residential One Family
M1
WHEREAS, the proposed Comprehensive Planning and Zoning Map
classifies this area as medium. density, and
WHEREAS the building of suitable housing is costly and it is
`I necessary that some way be found to defray the high cost of such housing, and
WHEREAS the Kodiak Island Borough Planning & Zoning Commission
has recommended that said lots be reclassified from R -1 to R -2 to allow for
community growth and public necessity, convenience, general welfare and good
zoning practice requires said reclassification.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDA= by the Borough Assembly of the
Kodiak Island Borough that the property known and described as Block 40, 43,
46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 52, 53 and 54 of the East Addition now classified as R -1
and the same are hereby classified as R -2 and that this ordinance be given by
publication in the Kodiak Mirror seven days prior to the second reading and
that a public hearing be held thereon on the date of-the second reading and
bhat this Ordinance become effective at the expiration of thirty days after its
adoption.
