AN ORDINANCE MAKING CERTAIN AMENDMENTS WITH RESPECT TO
CHAPTER 5, SUB - CHAPTER 5 OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH CODE OF
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS WHICH DEALS WITH THE UNIFORM BUILDING
CODE
BE IT ORDAINED by the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly
of Kodiak, Alaska, as follows:
Section 1: Chapter 14 of the Uniform Building Code,
1964 edition as adopted by Chapter 5, Sub - Chapter 5 under require-
ments for Group I occupencys is amended as follows:
Section 1409 designated exceptions and deviations in the
uniform Building Code 1964 edition is amended by adding (A) after
Section 1409 and by the addition thereto of another paragraph to
be designated as Sect inn (B) �_11ows:

Section 1409 (B) A building may be constructed
in a conservation zone or area set aside for
recreational or open to entry purposes. Such
buildings hereafter erected for dwelling or storage
may be constructed by any method when plans meet
with the approval of the Borough Assembly or
Building Inspector subject to the following limi-
tations and restrictions:
Such structures must be in excess of five (5) miles
from the City of Kodiak boundary limits, excluding
the following islands Easterly of the City: Woody,Islan
Long Island, Popoff Island and Holiday Island. Buildings
constructed as exceptions shall be limited to less than
1,000 square feet and one (1) story. When a building
exceeds these limits, it shall be classified in the
occupancy group it most nearly resembles.
