MAx 3 2010 MINUTES April 13, 2010 KIB School Disti ictMWOU0190 0 Y f= v E j CALL TO ORDER CHAIR SIROFCHUCK called to order the April 13, 2010 Parks Recreation meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. ROLL CALL Committee members present were Mike Sirofchuck, Hans Tschersich, Jeff Huntley, Andy Schroeder, Rick Lindholm, Sandra West, and Willy Bethea. Ex- officio member present was Casey Janz. Community Development staff present was Bud Cassidy and Sheila Smith. A quorum was established. COMMITTEE MEMBER SCHROEDER MOVED to excuse Patrick Saltonstall and Pam Foreman. VOICE VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY APPROVAL OF AGENDA COMMITTEE MEMBER HUNTLEY MOVED to approve the agenda. VOICE VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETINGS COMMITTEE MEMBER TSCHERSICH MOVED to approve the March 23, 2010 minutes. VOICE VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY AUDIENCE COMMENTS AND APPEARANCE REQUESTS There were no audience comments and4pearance requests. OLD BUSINESS A) Trails Plan Cassidy stated in your packet is a flyer to circulate and advertise for the public meeting, the agenda, and the last page is the schedule summary. We may do the Talk of the Rock on the hotline. The consultants will be blowing up the map to try to get more specific trail information. There will be tables set up with maps to try to capture any last minute trails. COMMITTEE MEMBERS TSCHERSICH and HUNTLEY expressed concern with discrepancies on the map. CHAIR SIROFCHUCK will talk to Diana Gish about the Talk of the Rock. Discussion In response to CHAIR SIROFCHUCK'S inquiry of will the consultants be writing a draft plan over the summer, Cassidy stated he couldn't answer that but we still need to get the trail descriptions. COMMITTEE MEMBER HUNTLEY suggested the flyer should say Community Trails Meeting. Page 1 of 2 s NEW BUSINESS There was no new business. COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE MEMBER WEST stated she brought a map with the 3 proposed areas for a bike path that she will send to Alta. She spent 2 hours with 2 DOWL engineers, Natasha Hayden and Aaron Christie driving the path. Aaron Christie offered to give a preliminary cost estimate free of charge thanks to Skip Bolton. They found some new potential trails. She will be providing letters asking the Planning Zoning and Assembly to make this a priority on the CIP. West is requesting permission to start clearing the path for dirt bikes and jogging this summer with volunteer help. Rob Greene told her to let him know if permission is granted and he will hopefully provide help. She said they're going to request a grant from Specialized Bike and Erin Whipple is helping to put that together. COMMITTEE MEMBER TSCHERSICH stated the Obama administration just proposed or funded a program with several billion dollars to promote non motorized transportation. REPORTS The next scheduled Parks Recreation meetings are: April 27, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the KIB School District Conference Room, May 11, 2010 meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the KIB School District Conference Room, and the May 18, 2010 Trails Plan Public Meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the North Star School Gymnasium. AUDIENCE COMMENTS There were no audience comments. COMMITTEE MEMBER'S COMMENTS Casey Janz said she is excited about this bike path because she grew up in Eugene where there are many bike paths. Mike Sirofchuck said it's good to see Huntley back and he thanked West. ADJOURNMENT COMMITTEE MEMBER HUNTLEY MOVED to adjourn.
