4 AN ORDINANCE OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH AMENDING
5 KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH TITLE 15 BUILDINGS AND CONSTRUCTION, CHAPTER 40
6 BUILDING AND LOT NUMBERING, SECTION 15.40.080 PROCEDURE FOR ADDRESSING
7 NEWLY CREATED LOTS

9 WHEREAS, Kodiak Island Borough Code section 15.40.080 prescribes the procedure for
10 assigning addresses to lots; and
11
12 WHEREAS, the current Kodiak Island Borough procedure for assigning addresses calls for
13 assigning addresses at the preliminary plat stage, which may result in assignment of addresses
14 to lots which may be further subdivided or not developed for some time and may create confusion
15 if addresses change upon further subdivision or development; and

17 WHEREAS, this Ordinance will amend KIBC 15.40.080 to modify the procedure to have
18 addresses assigned upon the earlier of site development or construction on a lot or the request
19 of the owner.

21 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
22 BOROUGH that:

24 Section 1: this ordinance is of a general and permanent nature and shall become a part of the
25 Code of Ordinances of the Kodiak Island Borough.

27 Section 2: Kodiak Island Borough Code section 15.40.080, Procedure, is amended to read as
28 follows:

32 A. Kodiak Island Borough GIS is responsible for assigning addresses and
33 maintaining address information.
34 B. Addresses will be implemented within 30 days upon receipt of an E911
35 address application, along with any other required or relevant information.
36 C. E911 address application shall be made available on the borough website
37 and/or in borough offices.

39 D. Addresses for newly created lots will be assigned dURR9 !he pFel"MiRaFy plat
40 rev- . I- -- cess at the earliest to occur of: issuance of a driveway ermit•
41 issuance of a building permit, or other permit for construction on the lot,
42 initiation of construction of structures on the lot, or upon a request by
43 the owner.
44 E. Address notifications will be sent to relevant parties, including, but not limited
45 to:
46 1. Kodiak police public safety answering point (PSAP).
