FY2022-01 9 10 A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ESTABLISHING 11 THE AMOUNT OF FUNDS TO BE MADE AVAILABLE FROM LOCAL SOURCES FOR THE 12 KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING 13 JULY 1, 2021 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 2022 14 15 WHEREAS, Kodiak Island Borough Code of Ordinances 3.15.030B provides that the Kodiak 16 Island Borough Board of Education shall submit the proposed budget and local support 17 requirements for the schools by April 30; and 18 19 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Board of Education submitted their proposed budget 20 and local support requirements for the schools on April 23, 2021; and 21 22 WHEREAS, pursuant to AS 14.14.060(c), within thirty days after receipt of the school district 23 budget, the assembly shall determine the amount of funds to be made available from local sources 24 for school purposes and shall furnish the Board of Education with a statement of the sum to be 25 made available; and 26 27 WHEREAS, the Board of Education has submitted a proposed budget of $47,395,830 which 28 includes a request of KIB support for $11,090,089, of which $430,000 is in kind services and 29 $10,660,089 is appropriation; and 30 31 WHEREAS, the amount of funds to be appropriated from local sources for school purposes will 32 be incorporated into Ordinance No. FY2022-01, the Borough's fiscal year 2022 appropriation and 33 tax levy ordinance; and 34 35 WHEREAS, the School District appropriation stated in this resolution may be adjusted 36 as part of the Borough budget process; and 37 38 WHEREAS, the AK Legislature may reinstate a percentage of the school bond debt 39 reimbursement; and whereas, the KIB Assembly intends to increase the direct appropriation to 40 KIBSD upon reinstatement of the School Bond Debt reimbursement to an additional amount up 41 to $634,845. 42 43 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND 44 BOROUGH that the amount to be made available to the Kodiak Island Borough School District Kodiak Island Borough, Alaska Resolution No. FY2022-01 Page 1 of 2 45 46 47 48 49 50 51 52 53 54 55 56 57 58 59 60 61 from local sources for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2021 is set at $10,455,244 for both direct appropriation and in-kind services.
