KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
RESOLUTION NO. FY2021-24
A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ACCEPTING A
$1,000 GRANT FROM THE KODIAK COMMUNITY FOUNDATION ON BEHALF OF THE
WOMENS BAY COMMUNITY COUNCIL FOR PLAYGROUND IMPROVEMENTS AT
SARGENT CREEK PARK.
WHEREAS, the Womens Bay Community Council (WBCC) is an organized group of residents
of the Womens Bay neighborhoods who advocate for issues and support activities in their
community; and
WHEREAS, the WBCC identified a need to update the playground within Sargent Creek Park
for the health and wellbeing of community members; and
WHEREAS, the WBCC met with Borough Staff to co-ordinate the project with the Borough as
the land owner; and
WHEREAS, the WBCC submitted a grant application for playground equipment to the Kodiak
Community Foundation with the Borough as their sponsor; and
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Community Foundation awarded a $1,000 grant for this project; and
WHEREAS, KIBC 3.25.040 B provides that "Authorization for expenditure of grant funds which
are limited by the grantor to a specific use or category of use may be authorized by resolution of
the assembly."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH that:
The Kodiak Island Borough accepts a $1,000 Grant from the Kodiak Community Foundation on
Behalf of the Womens Bay Community Council for playground improvements at Sargent Creek
Park.
