Assembly Special Meeting
May 19, 2021
A special meeting of the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly was held on May 19, 2021 in the
Borough Chambers, 710 Mill Bay Road. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 p.m.
Present were Mayor Bill Roberts, Assembly members Scott Arndt, Duane Dvorak, Geoffrey
Smith, Dennis Symmons, James Turner, and Aimee Williams. Also present were Borough
Manager Michael Powers, Borough Clerk Alise Rice.
DVORAK moved to excuse assembly member Kavanaugh who was absent to due to a personal
matter.
VOICE VOTE CARRIED FIVE TO ONE: Dvorak, Smith, Symmons, Turner and Williams
(AYES); Arndt (NO).
CITIZENS' COMMENTS
The following spoke under citizenscomments:

CONSIDERATION OF MATTERS IN THE CALL FOR THE SPECIAL MEETING.
A. Executive Session, Borough Manager Evaluation.
ARNDT moved to convene into executive session to discuss matters pertaining to personnel.
ROLL CALL VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: Arndt, Dvorak, Smith, Symmons,
Turner, and Williams.
ARNDT moved to invite the Borough Mayor, Assembly, and Borough Attorney into executive
session.
VOICE VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
After the vote, Mayor Roberts recessed the special meeting and convened the executive session.
Upon returning from the executive session, Mayor Roberts reconvened the special meeting and
announced that no action was to be taken.
ADJOURNMENT
ARNDT moved to adjourn the meeting.
VOICE VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
