RESOLUTION NO. FY2021-35
A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ACCEPTING
VOLUNTEER FIRE ASSISTANCE GRANTS FOR THE BAYSIDE AND WOMENS BAY FIRE
STATIONS
WHEREAS, the Volunteer Fire Assistance program is available from the USDA Forest Service
through the State of Alaska, Division of Forestry; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer Fire Assistance (VFA) funds provide assistance in training, equipment
purchases, and prevention activities, on a cost share basis. The assistance is provided to increase
firefighter safety, improve the firefighting capabilities of rural volunteer fire departments, and enhance
protection in the urban-wildland interface.; and
WHEREAS, only fire departments with a service area of less than 10,000 population and registered
with the State Fire Marshall are eligible: and
WHEREAS, an application for Volunteer Fire Assistance was submitted on behalf of the
Bayside and Womens Bay fire stations; and
WHEREAS, grants for each organization have been awarded.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH that:
The Kodiak Island Borough accepts a $4,500 grant award for the Bayside Fire Station and a
$4,350.06 for the Womens Bay Fire Station from the State of Alaska Division of Forestry Volunteer
Fire Assistance grant program.
