Teleconference
December 1, 2020
A special meeting of the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly was held on December 1, 2020, via
teleconference. The meeting was called to order at 8:42 p.m.
Present via teleconference were Mayor Bill Roberts, Assembly members Scott Arndt, Duane
Dvorak, Julie Kavanaugh, Geoffrey Smith, James Turner, and Aimee Williams. Also present
were Borough Manager Michael Powers, and Borough Clerk Alise Rice.
ATTENDANCE BY ROLL CALL: Arndt, Dvorak, Kavanaugh, Smith, Symmons, Turner, and
Williams.
CONSIDERATION OF MATTERS IN THE CALL FOR THE SPECIAL MEETING
Executive Session to Discuss Solid Waste Contract No. FY2019-25 Conference with
Borough Attorney, Scott Brandt-Erichsen.
ARNDT moved to convene into executive session under the authority of KIBC 2.30.030 (F)(1)(a)
to discuss Solid Waste Contract No. FY2019-25, a matter in which immediate public knowledge
of could adversely affect the finances of the Borough and receive legal advice from the Borough's
counsel.
ROLL CALL VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED FAILED FIVE TO TWO: Arndt, Kavanaugh,
Symmons, Turner, and Williams (NOES); Dvorak and Smith (AYES).
Letter Of Support For The Alaska Ocean Cluster Grant Application.
DVORAK moved to approve a Letter Of Support For The Alaska Ocean Cluster Grant Application.
ROLL CALL VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: Kavanaugh, Smith, Turner,
Williams, Arndt, and Dvorak.
ADJOURNMENT
ARNDT moved to adjourn the meeting.

Williams, Arndt and Dvorak.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:59 p.m.
