FY2020-08 A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ADOPTING THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH MULTI -JURISDICTIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION PLAN UPDATE DATED MAY 2018. WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires that all states and local governments submit a Hazard Mitigation Plan to be eligible for FEMA funding related to disasters; and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough hired LeMay Engineering & Consulting, Inc. to prepare a Multi -Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan (the plan) on behalf of all Borough residents, including the Kodiak Island Borough and other incorporated communities within the Borough; and WHEREAS, with this effort, the Kodiak Island Borough can be eligible for FEMA pre -hazard and DHS&EM post -disaster mitigation project grants by adopting the KIB All -Hazard Mitigation Plan; and WHEREAS, once the plan and annexes are adopted, the communities will have the power to make further changes to the plan whenever the need arises, subject to FEMA approval; and WHEREAS, FEMA Region 10 has completed a pre -adoption review of the plan and deemed it in compliance with all required elements of 44 CFR Part 201.6; and WHEREAS, FEMA Region 10 has committed to approve the plan upon receiving documentation of its adoption by participating jurisdictions; and WHEREAS, formal adoption documentation must be submitted to FEMA Region 10 by at least one jurisdiction within one calendar year of July 15, 2019; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH that the Kodiak Island Borough Multi -Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Update dated May 2018 is hereby adopted.
