FY2018-24 A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH AUTHORIZING THE PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE TO MOVE FORWARD WITH AN UPDATE TO THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH COMPREHENSIVE PARKS AND RECREATION PLAN THAT WAS ADOPTED JANUARY 9, 1981 (P&Z CASE NO. 18-012) WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough established a Parks and Recreation Committee by Ordinance No. 82-36-0; and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Parks and Recreation Committee is empowered to review and recommend revisions as necessary to the adopted comprehensive parks and recreation plan (KIBC 2.120.010); and WHEREAS, any such plans shall be reviewed by the Planning and Zoning Commission prior to the presentation to the manager and assembly (KIBC 2.120.010); and WHEREAS, the existing Kodiak Island Borough Comprehensive Parks and Recreation plan has not been updated since 1981; and WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission has received a request form the Parks and Recreation Committee to commence updating the Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Plan; and WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted on January 24, 2018 to recommend to the Borough Assembly that this resolution be approved, finding that the public necessity, convenience, general welfare, and good land use practice would be enhanced by such action. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH that the Parks and Recreation Committee shall initiate an update to the existing Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Plan that was adopted January 9, 1981.
