RESOLUTION NO. FY2017-40
A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH TO DISPOSE
BY LEASE OF BLOCK 2A-1, BLOCK 1, HOSPITAL SUBDIVISION (P & Z CASE NO. 17-
023)
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Resource Management Department has requested
disposal of Lot 2A, Block 1, Hospital Subdivision; and
WHEREAS, Kodiak Island Borough Code (KIBC) 18.20.030 requires each proposed disposal
of Borough land by lease to be reviewed by the Planning & Zoning Commission before
submission to the Assembly; and
WHEREAS, the Planning & Zoning Commission is required under KIBC 18.20.030 to make a
recommendation to the Assembly by resolution regarding the proposed land disposal by lease;
and
WHEREAS, the principal purpose of the Planning & Zoning Commission review is to consider
if the identified land will be to the benefit of the public if disposed of by lease; and
WHEREAS, the parcel identified for disposal has been in use as a hospital for several decades;
and
WHEREAS, the Planning & Zoning Commission has found that, following review, it would be
to the benefit of the public to dispose of the identified parcel by lease; and
WHEREAS, the Planning & Zoning Commission held a public hearing on April 19, 2017 to
consider this land disposal request.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH that
Section 1: The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly, in accordance with Title 18 of the Kodiak
Island Borough Code, approves disposal by lease of of Lot 2A-1, Block 1,
Hospital Subdivision.
Section 2: The Kodiak Island Borough Planning & Zoning Commission, in accordance with
Title 18 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code, has determined, after a public
hearing on April 19, 2016, that disposal by lease of the aforementioned property
would be to the benefit of the public.

Section 3: The aforementioned property should be disposed of by lease to Providence
Health System —Washington d/b/a Providence Health System in Alaska.
