AN ORDINANCE OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH AMENDING KIB CODE TITLE 2 ADMINISTRATION AND
PERSONNEL CHAPTER 2.20 BOROUGH MAYOR SECTION 2.20.070
MISCELLANEOUS AND CHAPTER 2.30 RULES OF THE ASSEMBLY
SECTION 2.30.100 MISCELLANEOUS TO DECREASE THE MAYOR
AND ASSEMBLY MEMBERS COMPENSATION
WHEREAS, the borough code currently provides that the mayor, assembly members,
commissioners, and other regulatory and quasi-judicial boards receive compensation; and
WHEREAS, the compensation for the mayor and assembly have not changed since the
enactment of Ordinance No., FY2008-04- and
WHEREAS, the current compensation for the mayor is $500 per month the assembly
members receive $300 per month;, and
WHEREAS, during the budget process, the assembly proposed a reduction of $75 from
the mayor's $500 per month compensation and $50 from the assembly's $300 per month
compensation; and
WHEREAS, Alaska Statutes 29.20,620 Compensation for Elected Officials states "The
salary of the mayor may not be reduced during the term of office of the mayor, unless
during the term a manager plan is adopted."
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
BOROUGH that -
Section 1: This ordinance is of a general and permanent nature and shall become a
part of the Kodiak Island Borough Code of Ordinances.,
Section 2: KIB Code Title 2 Administration and Personnel Chapter 2.20 Borough
Mayor Section 2.20.070 Miscellaneous is hereby amended as follows and
in, compliance with AS 29,20.620 this change will become effective
November 2016.

1. The mayor's compensation shall be $&00-.49 $425.00 per month. The mayor
may be included in, the borough health and life insurance plan.
2. Expenses of the mayor, other than transportation and per them for approved
travel, incurred because of borough activities may be reimbursed by the borough only after
approval by the assembly.
Section 3: KIB Code Title 2 Administration and Personnel Chapter 2.30 Rules of the
Assembly Section 2.30.100 Miscellaneous is hereby amended as follows
and will become effective July 2016.
2.30.1 tip Miscellaneous.
E. Compensation and Expenses.
1. Assembly members shall receive $400.00 2,50,00 per month. Assembly
members may be included in the borough health and life insurance plan.
2. Expenses of assembly members, other than transportation and per them for
approved travel, incurred because of borough activities may be reimbursed by the borough
only after approval by the assembly.
