Assembly Special Meeting
May 31, 2016
A special meeting of the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly was held on May 31, 2016, in the
Borough Conference Room of the Kodiak Island Borough Building, 710 Mill Bay Road. The
meeting was called to order at noon.
Present were Mayor Jerrol Friend, Assembly members Kyle Crow, Larry LeDoux, Frank
Peterson, Dan Rohrer, Rebecca Skinner and Dennis Symmons. Also present were Borough
Clerk Nova Javier and Administrative Official Roberts.

CONSIDERATION OF MATTERS IN THE CALL FOR THE SPECIAL MEETING
A. Review and approval of a letter to the North Pacific Fishery Management Council for Gulf
of Alaska Trawl Bycatch Management.
ROHRER moved to approve the May 31, 2016, letter to the North Pacific Fishery Management
Council for Gulf of Alaska Trawl Bycatch Management Item C5.
The fisheries analyst and the Kodiak Fisheries Work Group recommended that the Borough and
City submit public comments to the North Pacific Fishery Management Council for Gulf of Alaska
Trawl Bycatch Management. Through joint resolutions, the City and Borough have identified ten
community goals for fishery management program. The ten goals include maintenance of
healthy harvesting and processing sectors, a healthy community, and the letter could support the
aspects of a management program that provide for these goals.
ROLL CALL VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: Crow, LeDoux, Peterson, Rohrer,
Skinner, and Symmons.
ADJOURNMENT
PETERSON moved to adjourn the meeting.
ROLL CALL VOTE ON MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY: LeDoux, Peterson, Rohrer,
Skinner, Symmons, and Crow.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:22 p.m.
