FY2017-01 Borough Manager School District Board Finance Director 05/05/2016 05/05/2016 05/05/2016 05/05/2016 A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ESTABLISHING THE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF FUNDS TO BE MADE AVAILABLE FROM LOCAL SOURCES FOR THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 17 2016 AND ENDING JUNE 305 2017 WHEREAS, Kodiak Island Borough Code of Ordinances 3.15.030B provides that the Kodiak Island Borough Board of Education shall submit the proposed budget and local support requirements for the schools by April 30; and WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough Board of Education submitted their proposed budget and local support requirements for the schools on April 22; and WHEREAS, within thirty days after receipt of the school district budget, the assembly shall determine the amount of funds to be made available from local sources for school purposes and shall furnish the Board of Education with a statement of the sum to be made available; and WHEREAS, the amount of funds to be appropriated from local sources for school purposes will be incorporated into Ordinance No. FY2017-01, the Borough's fiscal year 2017 appropriation and taxy levy ordinance; and WHEREAS, FY2017 motor vehicle registration taxes are estimated at $280,000; and WHEREAS, the Fiscal Year 2017 assessed value is estimated at $1,290,000,000 (one billion, two hundred ninety million); and WHEREAS, at an assessed value of $1,290,000,000 (one billion, two hundred ninety million) and a mill rate of 7.75 mills the education support fund will receive $9,997,500 in real and personal property tax revenues; and WHEREAS, the School District appropriation stated in this resolution may be adjusted as part of the Borough budget process. Kodiak Island Borough, Alaska Resolution No. FY2017-01 Page 1 of 2 45 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND 46 BOROUGH that the minimum amount to be made available to the Kodiak Island Borough 47 School District from local sources for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017 is set at 48 $10,277,500 for both the direct appropriation and in kind services. 49 50 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE 51 KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH that a mill levy of at least 7.75 mills for education support 52 will be set for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017. 53 54 55 56 57 58 59 60 61 62 63 64 65 66 67 68 69 70 71 72 73 74 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH that a determination regarding additional funding may be made available to the Kodiak Island Borough School District based upon federal, state, and local funding available for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH any in -kind service expenditures over the budgeted amounts will have to be absorbed by the Kodiak Island Borough School District.
