Dear Ms. Jackson:
This letter is in response to your inquiry to Linda Freed,
Community Development Director for the Kodiak Island Borough. In
your letter of August 4, 1994, you ask, "—would the City of Kodiak
issue a building permit for Lot 2 Block 14."
Two requirements will have to be met before a building permit
can be issued.
1.) A zoning compliance,permit will have to be obtained before
issuance of a building permit.
2.) The structure will have to be engineered to withstand the known
hazard pertaining to the site.

Dear Mr. Bongen:
As you are aware, the Planning and Zoning Commission granted your request
for a variance on May 21, 1986.
Section 17.66.080 of the Kodiak Island Borough Code specifies that failure
to utilize an approved variance within twelve (12) months after its
effective date shall cause its cancellation.
The purpose of this letter is to remind you that zoning compliance and/or a
building permit for your development must be obtained within the twelve
(12) month time limit or your variance will be cancelled. Since nine (9)
months have already passed from the date of approval of your variance,
please contact the Community Development Department as soon as possible so
that we may assist you in applying for the necessary permits.
If you desire further clarification of this matter, please don't hesitate
to contact me at 710 Mill Bay Road or call 486-5736, extension. 255.
