F. George Burke - question on minimum improvements required before approval for
recording can be given. Statement on plat that subdivider will be a part
of a special assessment district when and if it is formed to be provided
on plat by Mr. Burke's surveyor.
G. Baranof Heights Subdivision - Final Flat. Mr. Barr read his Borough Engineer's
Report. Mr. Hubbard requested withdrawal until next meeting.
H. Rezoning request - Baptist Mission. A letter from William Stone was read.
Commissioner Anderson moved request be set up for public hearing. Commissioner
Urie seconded the motion. Voice vote approved.
1. Leasing Land - Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A letter from
Mr. West was read. A discussion regarding location and method of locating
followed. The motion was tabled.
J. Leasing Land - Church of the Nazarene. A letter from Anchorage Realty Company
was read. Mr. Granbury representing the Church mentioned a 66 acre tract,
USS 3511, and USS 3469. Mr. Granbury needs 62,500 square feet. First choice
is the southwest corner of USS 3469. USS 2843, Lot 1, USS 3511 and USS 3463
was also mentioned. There was no action taken.
K. St. Mary's Catholic Church - Building Permit. This was submitted to Borough
Chairman for action.
L. Kadiak
.1aska Subdivision - Minimum Requirements for proposals. Engineer
Barr recommended a special meeting on this subject and on rezoning. Commissioner
Duros moved that there be a special meeting next Wednesday evening in the
Courtroom after regular meeting. Voice vote approved.
M. Miller Point Plat. A letter from the State Chief Cadastral Engineer was read.
Commissioner Anderson moved approval of plat subject to following changes:
1. Send back for signature
2. Linen copy be submitted
3. Dedicate street and easements
4. Old Russian Mill, Lot 7, Block 7, be held as historic site
5. Scale changed to 1" = 100 ft.
6. Borough Engineer's Plat Report to be sent
The motion was seconded by Commissioner Sutliff. Roll Call vote was unanimously
favorable.
V Hearings, Ordinances and Resolutions
A. W.E. Russell - Public Hearing. Mr. Russell did not attend the meeting. Father
Cowgill objected to changes. Nr. Russell can appear at next meeting. The
Borough Office is to notify him.
B. Dr. R. Holmes Johnson - Public Hearing. A letter from the Borough Attorney
was read. Commissioner Anderson moved to approve rezoning a protion of Lot 6,
Block 14, Proposed New Kodiak Subdivision from R3 to Commercial. Seconded
by Commissioner Urie. Voice vote was unanimous.
C. Russell Wright - Public Hearing. The rezoning request was to change three
lots owned by Wright, Hickman and Markham from Residential Unclassified to
Business. Commissiener Sutliff moved approval. Commissioner Duros seconded
and was followed by a unanimous roll call vote.

It is requested that the Church of JesusChr-ist
of Latter Day Saints be, considered for a 55 Year lease:
on land suitable for a.'church building, off street
parking and landscaping. Approximately ai acres are
desired.
The Church of Jes :us Christ of Latter Day Saints
has no paid ministry, therefor it is an or anization-
furnishing religious and recreational.bene:fits to the
community . with a minimum of contribution by the public.
Within the church is the Mutual Improvernent Association
which provides an excellent program for the Youth,
the P=rimary Organization for small children and a Relief
Society organizat ion for the women of the Church.
Sunday School, Sacrament and Priesthood Meetings are
held each Sunday for the church members and all others
that wish to attend.
It is planned to build a building costing about
080,000. This will be the_first phase. The building
will be an expandable type building, which can and will
be added on to as needed by the Branch of the Church.
The building will be built mostly_by donated labor
furnished by members, of the Branch and others wishing to
contribute their labors toward this fine project.
It will be a beautiful building which will -erihance the
neighborhood in which it will be located and the community
in general. -
