RE: Information report on fence construction at Lot 7
Block 55, East Addition.
This memo serves to note the,actions.taken by me to resolve
the violation concerning the construction of a fence at_ 1720
Rezanoff Drive, owned by Mr. Richard Powell.
September 6, 1982 - Called Mr. Morris Lee to see if a building
permit was issued to Mr. Powell for this work. Morris said
that a permit had not been issued as yet and he would stop
by and inform Mr. Powell that a permit is needed.
September 8, 1982 - Called Morris Lee again to see if he had
visited Mr. Powell and was informed that Mr. John Sullivan
had stopped by and informed Mr. Powell that a building
permit was not required by the City. I told Morris that
zoning approval would still have to be obtained even though
the City's 1976 Uniform Building Code exempts permits on
fences as "small and unimportant work ". Morris stated
that a "courtesy" permit could be issued with proper zoning
compliance shown for this work.
September 9, 1982 - Called Mrs. Powell to inform her that
a building permit was required for the fence construction.
She stated she was informed by Mr. Sullivan that a permit
was not required., : I told her that even though the City
exempts this type of construction, zoning approval would
still have to be obtained. She stated she would inform
the contractor when he arrived that a permit was required
and for him to obtain it. Later that same day, I stopped
by 1720 Rezanof and spoke with the contractor about..obtain-
ing a permit. He said he would come into the office that
afternoon to obtain a building permit. I informed him
that even though the City would require no fee for this
permit, zoning approval still needed to be obtained. Height
of fence in the front yard along Rezanoff Drive was measured
to. be 4 feet. This complies with Section 17.54.010(A) which
requires fences along the front property lines to not exceed
4 feet in height.
