August 14, 1998
I am writing to follow-up my letter from August 12, 1998 regarding occupation of a
second dwelling unit on your property. I spoke with John Williams who has been staying
in your old house and we agreed that he could remain there until his planned departure
date to Oregon on September 15, 1998.
He agreed that next summer he would make some alternate lodging arrangements. If you

I recently received a complaint that your old house at the above location is being illegally
occupied as a second dwelling unit. Zoning compliance permit BZ-93-044, issued for
your new house in 1993, stated that the "existing single residence to be converted to shop
(accessory building)". In addition, having two single-family dwelling units on one lot in
the RR-1 zoning district is a violation of Kodiak Island Borough Code section 17.17.020,
"permitted uses".
Therefore, if the old house on your property is still being occupied as a second dwelling
unit, it must be vacated immediately. If you have any questions, please feel free to call
