12 ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION GRANT FUNDS FOR THE
13 KODIAK LANDFILL LATERAL EXPANSION, PHASE III AS THE
14 NUMBER ONE LOCAL STATE FUNDING PRIORITY FOR FISCAL
15 YEAR 2015

17 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough, through the State of Alaska Department of
18 Environmental Conservation, will request grant funding for the Kodiak Landfill Lateral
19 Expansion, Phase III; and
20
21 WHEREAS, the State of Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation has
22 requested that the Kodiak Island Borough identify if this project is the community's number
23 one local state funding priority for fiscal year 2015; and
24
25 WHEREAS, the Kodiak Landfill Lateral Expansion, Phase III is to provide a wastewater
26 treatment plant for treatment of the landfill's leachate to the required "drinking water"
27 discharge standard; and

29 WHEREAS, the budget for the Kodiak Landfill Lateral Expansion, Phase III is
30 approximately sixteen million dollars and Borough staff is applying for grant funding in the
31 amount of $1,825,000 in an effort to reduce the burden of debt to the local rate payers.

33 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
34 BOROUGH that the Kodiak Landfill Lateral Expansion, Phase III is designated as the
35 number one local state funding priority for fiscal year 2015.
