17.25.090 H definitions.
"Home occupation" means a business, profession, occupation, or trade located entirely within a
residential building, or an accessory structure which use is accessory, incidental and
secondary to the use of the residential building for dwelling purposes and does not change the
essential residential character or appearance of such building or neighborhood.A home
occupation may be conducted in a dwelling unit provided that:
A. Only one nonresident, at a time, and the resident(s)of a dwelling unit may be engaged in
the home occupation on the premises.
B. If a nonresident is engaged in the home occupation on the premises, an additional off-street
parking space shall be provided.
C. The home occupation shall occupy no more than 25 percent of the dwelling's floor area
including storage of wholesale or retail stock-in-trade(excluding the basement and garage
from this calculation).
D. There shall be no change in the outside of the building or premises nor shall there be other
visible evidence of the conduct of such home occupation on the property other than one sign
not exceeding six square feet in area and nonilluminated.
E. Vehicles making deliveries shall not be parked on the site for a period exceeding two hours
and only between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
F. No equipment or process shall be used in such home occupation which creates noise,
vibration, glare,fumes, or odors detectable to the normal senses off the lot. No equipment or
process shall be used which creates visual or audible interference in any radio or television
receivers off the premises or causes a fluctuation in line voltage off the premises. No
equipment, process or product shall be allowed in such home occupation which presents a
clear safety hazard(e.g.,fire, health)to the structure or the neighborhood.
