To the Assessors Office:
The purpose of this letter is to appeal the valuation of our property as
stated by your office. Our account number is R 1 42 1 0200 1 5 and our legal
lot description is Alderwood Subdivision Lot 5A Blk 2.
We purchased our house in March of 1988 for $114,500. Our assessment
this year, as well as last, was $125,300. (We misunderstood the
procedure for appeal or we would have appealed last year). The four
houses in our new subdivision, including ours, are of similar design from
the outside. Our house differs from the other three houses because our
lower level remains unfinished whereas the others are finished and
include a lower level bedroom with an attached bathroom. Our lower
level is unheated, unfinished with a concrete floor, and has no bathroom.
If the basis for reaching the valuation has been made on the recent sale of
these neighboring houses it is important to note these differences.
In summary, our house cost less than the neighboring houses because it
does not contain the same features. We paid $1 14,500 for our house and
would not expect that it's valuation would be beyond that dollar amount.
