10 A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY
11 AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 1997-20 REGARDING THE
12 COMPENSATION OF THE SERVICE AREA NO. 1 BOARD
13 CHAIRPERSON

15 WHEREAS, Kodiak Island Borough Code of Ordinances 4.15.050 states: "Board
16 members shall be compensated as provided by resolution of the Assembly"; and
17
18 WHEREAS, on or before March 31 of each year, each service area board of supervisors
19 adopts a budget and a work program, at public hearing, detailing the level of services
20 desired; and
21
22 WHEREAS, the Service Area No. 1 Board held a public hearing on its fiscal year 2014
23 budget on March 11, 2013, which included an increase to the Chairperson's stipend from
24 $300 to $400 per month; and
25
26 WHEREAS, the Assembly adopted Resolution No. 1997-20 on July 3, 1997 that
27 provided a $2,400 stipend to be paid to the Chairperson of Service Area No. 1 Board; and
28
29 WHEREAS, the Assembly adopted Resolution No. 1997-20B on October 5, 2006
30 increasing the annual stipend to $3,600 to be paid to the Chairman of Service Area No. 1
31 Board; and

33 WHEREAS, the Service Area No. 1 Board adopted its Resolution No. FY2014-01 on
34 November 11, 2013 recommending the stipend paid to the Chairperson be increased to
35 $4,800 annually; and

37 WHEREAS, funding for the increase to the Chairperson's stipend was made available in
38 the Service Area No. 1 Board's fiscal year 2014 budget.

40 NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK
41 ISLAND BOROUGH THAT

43 Section 1: The Service Area No. 1 Chairperson shall be paid a stipend of four
44 thousand eight hundred dollars ($4,800).
