9 A RESOLUTION OF THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
10 ESTABLISHING THE DATE FOR THE CITIZENS BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
11 HEARINGS FOR THE YEAR 2013 AND ESTABLISHING THE DATE
12 WHEN TAXES BECOME DELINQUENT

14 WHEREAS, part of the public notification process is the setting of dates, by resolution, of
15 Board of Equalization hearings for appeals; and
16
17 WHEREAS, KIBC 3.35.050 (A5) Hearing Dates states "the board shall commence hearings
18 on the first Monday in May, unless otherwise changed by resolution. Hearings will continue
19 from day to day as established by the board and the borough clerk until all properly filed
20 appeals have been heard ;" and
21 WHEREAS, Alaska Statutes 29.45.240 (A) states "The rate of levy, the date of equalization,
22 and the date when taxes become delinquent shall be fixed by resolution ".

24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE ASSEMBLY OF THE KODIAK ISLAND
25 BOROUGH THAT:

27 Section 1: The rate of levy shall be set by the Assembly after certification of the roll and
28 final budget approval.

30 Section 2: The Board of Equalization hearing of appeals from the 2013 assessed
31 valuations of real and personal property within the Kodiak Island Borough,
32 Alaska will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013, and Tuesday, May 7, 2013, and
33 will continue from day to day as established by the Board of Equalization and
34 the Borough Clerk until all properly filed appeals have been heard. This
35 meeting(s) will start at 7:30 p.m. in the assembly chambers of the Kodiak
36 Island Borough, 710 Mill Bay Road, Kodiak, AK 99615.

38 Section 3: The date taxes are due is October 15, 2013, unless the taxpayer elects to pay
39 the taxes in two equal installments, then the first half is due on August 15,
40 2013, and the second half is due on November 15, 2013.
