RE: FY2013 KIBSD Budget Local Funding
Dear Stewart,
To prepare the FY2013 Kodiak Island Borough School District (KIBSD) budget, the Borough Assembly
has estimated the amount of local funding the Borough can fund at this point of the FY2013 budget
process.
The Borough has determined it could provide local funding at this point in the FY2013 budget of $9
million. This amount does not include the Borough's funding of in -kind services.
This amount is based on taking last year's contribution and increasing it by 3% which is the amount that
the total assessed value in the Borough is estimated to increase. That amount was then reduced by the
estimated increase in the Borough's debt service as a result of the Kodiak High School Addition and
Renovation Project. The result was rounded to $9 million.
Hopefully knowing this amount will prepare the KIBSD for its FY2013 budget. We appreciate the early
communication with the Kodiak Island Borough School District this year and will be discussing
budgeting going forward until the legislature goes home and we arrive at a final budget.
Sincerely,
KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH
