B) Island Lake Trail /Mill Bay Beach Improvements Cassidy stated the Assembly has had on the Strategic Plan to look at Mill Bay Beach. We have here tonight 3 gentlemen from Lounsbury & Associates who are term engineering contract folks. The borough put out an RFP for engineering services and Lounsbury & Associates were selected. Cassidy and the engineering folks looked at Mill Bay Beach and Island Lake Trail. We have a grant from the State of Alaska for improving the trail and Mill Bay Beach, and the Assembly has included in their Strategic Plan an access for Mill Bay Beach. One of the projects is to try to design a set of ADA stairs down to the beach. Cassidy introduced Joshua Cross - Project Manager, Pat Butler- Engineer, and Jim Sawhill- President of Lounsbury & Associates. During discussion the committee had consensus that the 1st priority should be stairs to the beach for families, older folks, etc and the 2nd priority should be a route to the beach to launch kayaks and rafts. OLD BUSINESS A) Trails Plan Cassidy said he's still filtering through what was discussed at the last meeting, and he'd like to forward the information to Gilpin. He wants to talk to Gilpin about an exit strategy and it may be best to get a draft plan so we can look at it in its entirety.
