1987-42 Authorizing Purchase of one Emergency Warning Siren.A RESOLUTION OF THE KODIAK ISLAND BOROUGH ASSEMBLY TO PURCHASE ONE
EMERGENCY WARNING SIREN.
WHEREAS, the Kodiak Island Borough has been actively involved with
the City of Kodiak in developing an emergency preparedness program, and
WHEREAS, that program has identified a serious weakness in warning
capability in residential areas throughout the City and the Borough. and
WHEREAS, the need for thirteen to fifteen warning sirens scattered
throughout the City of Kodiak and the Monashka Bay and Bells Flats areas has
been indicated in the studies for emergency preparedness, and
WHEREAS, the City and Borough purchased and placed six sirens in
FY 87 but seven to nine additional sirens are still needed.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Kodiak Island Borough
Assembly authorizes the expenditure of an amount not to exceed 18,000 for the
purchase of one outdoor warning siren through the City of Kodiak from the low
bidder to be located at the most effective site to warn a maximum number of
people.
